  • Abstract
The feasibility of employing wavelet transforms for feature extraction during reactor power transients is investigated in this work. This summary describes applications of a discrete wavelet transform to power transients in the University of Arizona TRIGA reactor, initiated by step reactivity insertions. Analysis shows that the transform results in a compact representation of the reactor´s behavior. The significant features of the transients are contained in relatively few coefficients. The on-line windowed wavelet transform is implemented by an efficient algorithm and wavelet patterns under different translation are obtained. The compact wavelet representation can then be used for transient identification
