Abstract
The positioning of the RF accelerating stations at LEP (large collider) necessitates precise phase synchronization over many kilometers. The master RF frequency generator is situated in the main control room, together with associated equipment, and signal transmission to the RF stations is via 1.3-μm monomode fiber-optic links. The total estimated delay variations for the longest link is about 8 ns. A feedback system was developed to compensate for fiber-optic transmission delay variations. The design and testing of the system now installed at LEP are described
