Abstract :
For equipment such as music synthesizers, personal computers, and video game sets, LSI sound ICs play a critical role. However ensuring the quality of such ICs has been difficult, the primary method being subjective testing by humans. This paper outlines a new method for electronically evaluating such ICs using real-time spectrum analysis and digital signal processing (DSP) techniques. The method yields a 12× test time improvement, matches the test ability of human ear, and is more repeatable
