Abstract :
Summary form only given. This paper details the progress of a research project to develop an automated quality assurance workcell for a salmon canning line. The identification of quality control (QC) defects and simulation of the existing system is discussed, and the experimental work to obtain data about the system is described. A number of factors involved in mixed human/automation workcells are considered in the context of this salmon processing system. The proposed computer vision algorithms and experimental workcell to grade and sort filled cans of salmon are presented.
