Abstract
The biomedical electronic data are growing at an unprecedented rate in a multitude of areas. However, how to share these data easily and efficiently is a big challenge faced by biomedical data management; especially, when organizations are becoming more geographically distributed, how to share data among different sites will be an even more challenge. This paper presents a tiered storage system architecture that can be used to implement remote biomedical data sharing with high performance/cost ratio. A prototyping system has been developed based on this architecture.
