Abstract
As switched reluctance motors (SRM) generally offer a simple and robust design, they are very suitable for an aircraft main engine fuel pump drive which needs to be actuated by fault tolerant drives. Based on analytical comparison the merits and demerits of some different machine topologies including redundancies, a six phase 12/8 fault-tolerant SRM is proposed and designed for fuel pump drive application. The finite element model based on field-circuit coupling is established, results indicate that this machine meets the needs of demanding fuel pump drive system in aerospace environments.
