  • Abstract
Rapidly growing adoption of smartphones and other mobile broadband-enabled devices combined with flat-rate data plans are stretching the radio and backhaul capacity of many mobile networks to the limits. This creates technical and business issues for mobile operators and drives their interest in LTE. However, the prolonged financial downturn sets a pressure on operators to reduce CAPEX and OPEX of new technologies and services. Cutting down the time and workload by optimizing business processes is probably the most efficient way to quickly achieve this goal. This paper presents the concept of Network Information Management (NIM) a novel telecom IT technology that supports business process optimization by aggregating and consolidating key service and network information. The paper also explains how NIM helped mobile operator Aero2 to reduce the cost and time of an LTE deployment and a commercial rollout of LTE-based Triple-Play services.
