Abstract :
We designed an interactive digital signage (IDS) system for use in advertising. The system is characterized by visual content (images, videos, and texts) provision on a large display for interacting with mobile phones. Its principal feature is that it enables users to easily perform tasks such as making restaurant reservations and televoting. It is also applicable to fixed mobile convergence (FMC) services. We propose a functional architecture for the system and describe its device linker and content synchronizer in detail. We also developed a prototype for the system on the basis of its functional architecture and explain its implementations and message sequences. Two use cases are examined: a one-to-one case (one digital signage and one mobile phone) for making restaurant reservations and a one-to-many case (one digital signage and multiple mobile phones) for televoting. This prototype works well in both cases.
