Abstract :
A pilot-scaled continuous membrane filtration (CMF) and reverse osmosis (RO) integrated technique was used for the treatment of secondary sedimentation tank effluent in an anti-counterfeiting paper mill, and the effluent of the integrated technique can be reused in multiple production processes. The results showed that the CMF effluent met all the requirements of RO influent, the average CODCr was 45 mg/L, turbidity was less than 0.5 NTU, SS was less than 1 mg/L, and for the CMF system the removals of CODCr, turbidity and SS were 10%, 99% and 100%, respectively. The RO effluent met the water quality requirements of papermaking in every aspects, i.e. the average CODCr was 2 mg/L, the removal rate of CODCr was bigger than 90%, the conductivity was less than 10 μs/cm, and the desalination rate was bigger than 99%. The quality of the treated water met the requirements of the anti-counterfeiting papermaking process.
