Abstract :
A fault-tolerant computer system is one such that if problems arise then the system itself has the capacity to find and correct or eliminate them and ensure that the whole system runs normally. The dual-server real-time processing system discussed in this paper is a dual-module hardware redundant system. This system has two Sun workstations as dual-server. First we review the design of the whole system, then we focus on discussing how to resolve the problems of communication, synchronization, and problem detection and correction between two Sun workstations. The result shows that this system resolve those problems existing in the dual-server redundant system. This system can be widely used in many real-time processing fields such as power supply scheduling, technical production control and so on
