Abstract
Most consumer-level digital camcorders use a complementary color filter array (CCFA) to capture the colors of the scene. To render a full color image, an interpolation process, commonly know as demosaicking, is required. However, most demosaicking techniques proposed in the literature are developed for Bayer CFA. These algorithms cannot be directly adopted in CCFA because they have quite different filter array pattern. This paper presents a new edge-adaptive color interpolation approach for CCFA. It consists of two successive steps: interpolating in horizontal direction, and then an edge-directed interpolation is applied in vertical or diagonal direction. Experimental results confirm the performance of this algorithm both objectively and subjectively.
