Abstract
This paper describes a coherent optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) with a high dynamic range for locating faults in optical cable systems incorporating repeaters based on erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA). We also present experimental results achieved with transmission lines containing several fiber spans and EDFAs
