Abstract
Permutation codes are a class of error correction codes which have been suggested for use on the Gaussian channel. Runlength limited (d,k) codes, a class of modulation codes, are used to decrease intersymbol interference in a peak detection recording channel. The author suggests a method whereby these two classes of codes can be combined to improve the reliability (or density) in a peak detection magnetic recording channel
