Abstract :
An account is given of the assembly phase of the SIS 18. The status of components and subsystems is reviewed. During an aperture test in November 1988 first beam results were obtained. A load test on the public grid with the SIS magnet power supply revealed that a mechanical power buffer has to be installed in the future
