Abstract
The authors discuss the use of an open Cassegrain antenna in conjunction with a differential positioner as a general solution for tactical EHF (extremely high-frequency) terminals. The differential mount is shown to offer significant mechanical advantages over conventional positioners. It is concluded that improved harsh environment performance and simplicity in implementing low transmission loss systems such as the beam waveguide ensures its future use in EHF and higher frequency terminals
