Abstract :
Several reliable packet routing approaches have been studied to achieve a high reliable VANET by using the Car-to-car communications and Inter-Vehicle Communications. VANET suffers from high mobility, diverse road topologies, and wireless interference, and thus significantly degrades the connectivity of packet transmissions and network performance. The mathematical analysis can help the approach efficiency, but most works neglect the vehicular accidents happened on roads and then reduces the functionality of the mathematical analysis. This paper thus proposes a two-phase reliable packet routing approach, and then propose a mathematical model to analyze the packet connectivity probability for a multiple-lane road with accidents. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the compared works in packet connectivity probability and packet transmission delay under diverse affect factors: number of lanes on a road, vehicle accident probability, number of vehicles, vehicle density, etc. Importantly, the analytical packet connectivity probability and packet delay are close to that of simulations. The good features justify the correctness of the analytical model.
