Abstract :
The Surrounding Analysis Method (SAM) in thermodynamics was founded by professor Chen Guitang of Jilin University. It is a new distinctive course theory system, which is found on the recent knowledge. The SAM is not only due to Professor Chen´s long-term teaching experience in thermodynamics, but also due to his thorough study for every classical thermodynamic theory system. The SAM studies the equilibrium of system and the changing course of state based on the root causes called inner cause and outer causes. When applying the SAM, the different factors effecting the state change of system can be clearly identified. The degree of each influence on the state change of system can also be clearly known. Its new definitions, concepts and expressions are more inclusiveness and more universal applicability. The SAM has the more applicability in teaching and engineering practice. It has positive influence on the development of classical thermodynamics. The basic guidance ideas of the SAM, the thermodynamic model, the general expressions of basic laws of thermodynamics and its characteristics are introduced in the paper.
