Abstract :
Plenty of desert brush grows in the north of China. Brush does not only have great influence on ecology, which serves for conserving soil and water and checking winds and fix drifting sand, but also have great benefits on economy, which serves as energy forest, raw material forest and forage forest. In order to solve the problem of cutting brush in sandy area in north of China, a self-propelled walking brush cutter was designed. This article introduces its design requirements, working principle and structure features. A series of experiments were carried out with this machine. The results indicated that using this machine to cut brush the stubble after cutting could be left under 8cm, working efficiency was as high as 0.1 hm2h-1 and the amount of newly growed branches was twice as much as it was before.
