Abstract
This paper focuses on a case study on dynamic characteristics analysis and dynamic stiffness evaluation of a reconfigurable turn-milling machine tool. The structural dynamics analysis and evaluation on CNC machines, which has become one of the utmost technologies to resolve vibration problems, is frequently applied for detecting machine anti-vibration property and evaluating vibration analysis accuracy. In this study, natural frequency and corresponding vibration modes of the reconfigurable turn-milling machine tool were analyzed by using both FEA and vibration testing. Furthermore, dynamic stiffness of the machine tool was analyzed. Both the theoretical analysis and test results showed fairly good coherence. Finally, some further discussions were made based on the analysis results from the point of view of resonant vibration.
