Abstract :
As the energy shortage and the widely utilization of the airtight and insulation material, with low ventilation, the numerous synthetic chemicals can´t be diluted and replaced, and more and more people are suffered form sick building syndrome (SBS). On the other hand many people spend more than 80% of their time in an artificial climate, for occupants have different physiological and psychological response, clothing, activity, individual preference to the air temperature and movement. Thus, conventional air conditioning has limitations and is often unable to provide each occupant simultaneously with high level of thermal comfort and air quality. Task/ambient air conditioning aims to provide clean air to the breathing zone of occupants. Each occupant can control his/her ambient environment according to his/her preference. It shows great advantage in energy conservation and good indoor air quality. The paper describes the classification of the TAC system and then introduced the characteristics of the TAC system. The studies about design of the system and the combination with another system are summarized. Needed research is also suggested. It is concluded that TAC system is an environmentally friendly cooling, and heating technology.
