Abstract :
Performance data for a single-aperture dual-beam antenna operating with a 6 GHz, 135 Mb/s 64-QAM digital microwave system is presented. The test covers six months of operation during which over 900000 seconds of clear-air fading greater than 10 dB was recorded. The test configuration is such that performance of an angle-diversity receiver, space-diversity receiver, and an unprotected receiver are measured simultaneously during the fading events. Based on the test results, it is concluded that angle diversity shows great promise for paths with a history of propagation problems, and locations where space diversity is impractical
