Abstract
A compact tunable internal antenna using a composite right/left handed transmission line (CRLH-TL) for personal communication handset application is presented in this paper. The antenna consists of two lumped inductors, and a variable capacitor to adjust the resonant frequency by controlling the DC bias voltage. Simulation results show that the required frequency can be tuned nearly from 1.8GHz to 2.5GHz with the return loss below -10dB. Overall size of the antenna is 40mm*10mm*0.8mm.
