Abstract
The author highlights the basic requirements to be considered when specifying a complete drive package with a rating up to 500 hp at 460 V AC. Applications currently in use at the Dundee Michigan cement plant along with the corresponding operating experiences are discussed. The following issues are discussed in connection with the complete drive package: location of drive; enclosure type and size; control strategy; standardization of drives; training; and harmonics
