Abstract
This paper proposes an accurate model for predicting the total distortion produced by arbitrary packet loss patterns. The proposed model takes into account the effects of multiple packet losses, and operates with low complexity. It is designed as a general model for different coding characteristics and various packet loss rates. We test the proposed model using H.264/AVC coded video at different loss rates. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves higher estimation accuracy compared to the existing additive model.
