  • Abstract
Mobile ad hoc network (MANETs) is an emerging area with practical applications. An ad hoc network is collection of wireless nodes that are capable of communicating in odd situations like geographical disaster rescue and military operations, where either the network infrastructure did not exists or has been collapsed due to catastrophes. The nature of ad hoc network makes them vulnerable to attacks, specially in the routing protocol. MANETs are much more susceptible to infiltration by malicious agents. The performance of MANETs is affected by presence of malicious agent. This paper proposes a secure on demand mobile ad hoc network routing protocol named as Powerful source routing (PSR), PSR based on the concept of forbearer packet and negative acknowledgement which incorporates a specified data traffic rate in the network to detect malicious agent. PSR is able to mitigates against malicious agents that selectively drop or modify packets, in this propose method simulated results are compared with existing method that give better performance in terms of packet delivery ratio, number of data packet delivered and routing overhead.
