Abstract
Some experiences of developing electronic learning materials are discussed and evaluated in particular for adult learning. The starting point is a reflection on the design-, development-, production-and evaluation-process of computer-based courses for academic purposes. Initially, academic staff members were not familiar with the development of digital learning packages. They were familiar with computers, but not for teaching purposes. So what worked, what didn´t and what needed to be changed? The final advice offered in this article is based on mistakes made and lessons learned in academic contexts and in other learning environments. So, the focus is not only on formal, individual learning in academic contexts, but also on informal learning within teams, e.g. when people acquire skills at the workplace.
