Abstract :
This study investigated the feasibility of using bioelectrical impedance measurements, to predict the instantaneous body fluid loss during surgical procedures, in patients under anesthesia. Multisite impedance measurements were performed in the operating room, from the wrists and ankles of 12 subjects undergoing abdominal surgeries. Experimental results strongly support the clinical usefulness of this technique and further study of this method is recommended using multifrequency currents for the assessment of (ECW) and (ICW) changes
