Abstract :
This work compares ultimate high-rate characteristics of common used erbium-doped fiber amplifiers and chromium-doped ones within the framework of the number-state model. Chromium-doped fiber amplifiers are new kind of optical fibers with the reduced absorption of hydroxyl group with passband widths up to 400 nm.
