Abstract :
A programmable driver circuit is designed and tested in Chartered 0.35 um CMOS process for multiple-quantum-well (MQW) optical modulators. The drive circuit chip is flip-chip bonded to MQW optical modulators. This circuit can provide not only the maximum output drive voltage of 2 Vdd that enhances the contrast ratio of MQW optical modulators, but also the arbitrary voltage value up to 2 Vdd to drive the modulator. Simulation results demonstrate that this circuit can meet the requirements of the 256-level grayscale modulation MQW optical modulators.
