Abstract :
The authors describe an interpolation method which greatly simplifies the RF complexity of D.K. Weaver´s (1956) method of single-sideband (SSB) generation for a digital implementation. The baseband I and Q signal samples are interpolated using simple accumulators and the interpolated samples are multiplexed to produce the SSB signal samples. The proposed method would be ideally suited for generating SSB at a fixed intermediate frequency, and is also suitable for generating SSB by selecting one of the harmonics of the carrier frequency using a simple filter. Simulations confirm that good performance can be achieved with this method.<>
