Abstract :
The workshop reports on the recent developments of technologies and applications for content-based access of image and video libraries. Papers were selected that best reflect important trends and advances in the state of the art in content-based access. The technical program is organized around four major themes: (1) image content analysis and object-based retrieval, (2) video content analysis, (3) content-based querying, and (4) video summarization. Five papers present new methods for image content analysis and object-based retrieval that deal with the automatic extraction of features and regions from images and video in order to enable content-based querying. Five papers present new methods for video content analysis that focus on analyzing scenes, events, and other semantic information in video. Five papers present new techniques for content-based querying that focus on improving retrieval effectiveness and query response times by using techniques such as relevance feedback, browsing, and learning. Finally, five papers address problems related to video summarization including applications such as content-based video delivery for mobile users
