Abstract :
The high specific power densities in the SLC (Stanford Linear Collider) give rise to problems in collimation and momentum analysis, beam containment, machine protection, and background control. The results of an extensive program to develop most of the devices deemed necessary for operation of the arc matching sections and the final focus region are presented. Emphasis is placed on materials selection and on unique features of remotely adjustable slits and halo clipper collimators which have to operate with great precision in a high-radiation, ultra-high-vacuum environment. Also covered are solutions for a few fixed-aperture machine protection collimators
