Abstract :
After long debate, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced in January, 1995 a determination for the regulatory status of cement kiln dust (CKD). The EPA has decided that cement kiln dust requires additional management controls to prevent damage to ground water and potable water and to reduce health risks associated with breathing and ingesting dust from cement kilns. This update presents an overview of the EPA´s 1995 determination, and outlines future management scenarios for the industry to consider
