Abstract
High efficiency converters are desirable for renewable energy systems, especially those related with photovoltaic applications. In this paper, a losses analysis for the diode clamped asymmetric full bridge multilevel inverter (AFBMI) is presented. As this circuit minimizes the number of switches per level [H Valderrama-Blavi et al., 2003] has the same advantages of other multilevel circuits but keeping the conduction losses at acceptable levels. Low switching frequency operation is also investigated and some preliminary results given.
