Abstract :
While Web contents adaptation for mobile devices is generally performed by transcoding servers, we studied a client-based interface adaptation technique for XML-based Web pages. Recently, UI description languages, such as XForms, have been attracting much attention as a tool for constructing Representational state transfer (REST) based service interfaces. For XML-based UI languages, it is more effective to perform interface adaptation using contents-based filtering in combination with the conventional transcoding method. In this paper, we suggested a method of describing adaptation rules in XPath expressions with predicates on context values. The realization of an adaptive UI is possible using well-established evaluation methods of XPath access controls. Moreover, we presented that the proposed approach can apply to the adaptation of remote communication actions interacting with RESTful services.
