Abstract :
A "universal" power losses estimator for LV IGCTs switching cells based on the ideal switches simulation approach has been developed. The estimator takes into account relevant phenomena typical in high power converters (high current ripple, DC link voltage variation, over-modulation operation, closed loop operation). Furthermore, the estimator can be easily adapted to every topology where a switching cell can be identified, which can allow having a quick and accurate topology comparison for a given application. This kind of tool can be very interesting when the power converter designer looks for the best-suited solution for any application
