Abstract :
Acoustic sources under Arctic pack ice give rise to vibratory motion that travels in the ice sheet. These in-ice vibrations are detectable and can be used to localize the under-ice sources. This paper presents analysis of data from geophone and hydrophone arrays deployed during ICEX-I-90. Addressed are basic issues relating to the behavior of the waves. Primary interest was placed on characterizing the coupling of the acoustic sources into the different modes of ice vibrations, and on examining the propagation behavior of the dominant modes
