Abstract :
The analytical formula that relates the solutions of initial boundary-value problems describing unsteady electromagnetic fields to the solutions of spectral problems describing characteristics of open resonators is derived. This allows one to analyze spectral characteristics of open resonant structures from their space-time characteristics, which can be obtained by the standard finite-difference algorithms without inverting any operators. The approach of this kind minimizes substantially the restrictions imposed on geometrical and material parameters extending the range of rigorously analyzable open resonant structures.
