Abstract
Multi-discontinuous modes (MDMs) have been detected in fourth order PWM DC-DC converters. MDMs are operated in light load conditions and involve repetitions and coexistence of current and voltage discontinuities within the switching period. The experimental characterization of a Cuk PWM converter operating several MDMs is presented in this paper. The similarities of MDMs with quasi-resonant modes are pointed out and discussed
