Abstract :
This paper proposes two novel boost converter topologies which exhibit zero switching losses. One of the topologies can be used as a switched-mode rectifier with active power factor correction and the other as a boost DC-DC converter both operating with discontinuous inductor current. The proposed converters have the advantage of maintaining zero voltage switching (ZVS) during the off transition and zero current switching (ZCS) during the on transition. Moreover, since the proposed topologies are realized using two power semiconductor branches, the input power semiconductor devices share the input current during the boost action
