Abstract :
The paper presents a new peak factor reduction technique. We suggest to use a smooth limiter at the transmitter in order to reduce peak factor of the signal before amplification. The fact that the proposed nonlinear transformation is described by a single-valued function allows us to restore the signal at the receiver. The method is applicable in both single-carrier and multicarrier transmission. In this paper we concentrate on the multicarrier variant and suggest the scheme for the implementation of the technique in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission system. Our simulation results confirm that the suggested scheme exhibits a good ability to reduce peak factor and an acceptable BER performance in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel.
