Abstract
There is an increasing demand for universities to provide quality education for ever greater number of students, while at the same time reducing costs. Computer Based Training (CBT) can help to meet these demands but until now development costs have been prohibitive. A possible way of producing lower cost CBTs for universities is for lecturers to develop it themselves. This would also ensure a close match between the content and the university syllabus. This paper describes a project in which ten multimedia CBT programs were developed by lecturers in the Technical University of Lisbon (IST). The problems encountered and the results obtained are analysed and solutions for improving future projects are presented
