  • Abstract
The three dimensional porous matrix of biocompatible polymers is widely used in tissue engineering. In the search for a suitable material we are suggesting `gelatin´ due to the fact that it has many of the biological functions intact as its natural form `collagen´. We have made porous gelatin matrix which is morphologically similar to the extra cellular matrix. Other components of extra cellular matrix can be incorporated to achieve tissue specific microenvironment. Fabrication steps involve conventional techniques. Morphological studies are made by scanning electron microscopy and preliminary cell culture studies show encouraging results
