Abstract :
This paper presents an approach to development of triggered multigap gas switch with axial arrangement of electrodes. Gaps switching process is based on self-propagation of overvoltage along the chain of these gaps. Switching processes of axial gas switch in nitrogen and SF6 were investigated, including dynamic behavior, triggering ability and jitter. The ability to use this type of devices as the switches of coaxial forming lines in highcurrent and highvoltage nanosecond pulse generators with repetition rate more than 500 Hz is shown.
