Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a numerical procedure to study the radiation quality factor of arbitrary and complex antennas. Based on the Finite Difference method in Time Domain (FDTD), the procedure produces very accurate value for antenna Q. Employed as reference results, these values will then be compared to those obtained by several analytical approaches based on the antenna input impedance. To conclude, we present the drawbacks and advantages of the numerical and analytical approaches.
