Abstract
Reuse has been the subject of vigorous study in Europe over the past several years, and the prospects are that it will continue to be for several years to come. The major Commission-sponsored programmes represent the main thrust of reuse-oriented activity in Europe. But the focus of that work is high-level and oriented towards holistic, “meta” technology with little impact on the commercial market. This focus must change for Europe to become competitive in future markets for software components
