Abstract :
The Royal Air Force Signals Engineering Establishment (RAFSEE) provide an intelligent customer service to the MoD (PE). As such we provide technical input to the procurement specification as well as design and conduct trials to evaluate the equipment prior to acceptance and technical transfer (TT). This role has evolved and changed in over the years due to changes in procurement philosophy e.g. commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment and of ever tightening constraints on the budget. However, the need to verify equipment performance and provide the customer with confidence in the equipment is still high on the agenda. The method of achieving this is discussed using the procurement of the Type 101 mobile air defence (AD) radar as an example
