Abstract :
Presents an automatic ECG signal processing approach based on a syntactic procedure for monitoring the state of a cardiac patient in an intensive coronary care unit (ICCU). The ECG signal is subdivided into number of segments and each segment is represented by a polynomial. The coefficients of the polynomials are computed and compared regularly, and the variation in their values beyond a set limit is taken as an index of deterioration in the state of the cardiac patient whose state is being monitored. The method has been successfully tested for checking the variation in the coefficients of ECG signals of different natures
