Abstract :
We report on the European Union Information Society Technologies (EU IST) project SATIN (satellite UMTS IP-based packet networks). The paper discusses physical layer aspects of a novel approach taken within the SATIN framework to deliver multicast/broadcast multimedia services (MBMS) through a satellite network with minimum change to the terrestrial 3G W-CDMA air interface.
