Abstract :
CEPEL (Centro de Pesquisas de Energia Elétrica) has developed and patented a solution for monitoring measurement systems based on intelligent instrument transformers, called Self-Monitored Current Transformers (TCAMs)1 and Self-Monitored Potential Transformers (TPAMs)2, in order to reduce non-technical losses and monitor the electrical measurement system. This paper presents the main features of the proposed monitoring solution, based on an electronic circuit that is embedded into conventional instrument transformers. Accuracy test results obtained in the laboratory using the prototype of TCAM developed in CEPEL are also presented.
